Field notes

  • Relay 7 went silent forty years ago. It never stopped singing.
  • The five crown blades are a chord — the network's only remaining word. It repeats it until someone answers.
  • Answer wrong and coral static answers for you. Three wrong echoes and it files you under "received".
  • Seven rites deep, the crown opens both ways. Operators report hearing their own voice on the next broadcast.
